Design Inspiration: The Laundry Room
I have always been envious of those with dreamy laundry rooms. Here are some great laundry room ideas for inspiration to get me started on the laundry room at the lake house. I hope that some of these ideas help get you motivated to make your laundry room an inviting space too.
If you have kids, you can definitely understand the importance of having a washer and dryer at the Lake House. Therefore, this was definitely an important consideration when we purchased the place. While the Lake House already has laundry... the space leaves much to be desired. Let's start with what is not great about the current set up for laundry at the Lake House. First of all, there is not actually a separate laundry room. It is actually just part of the road side entry to the house. In addition, the washer and dryer are just sort of shoved into the corner of this space, making it look like an afterthought and not a laundry room. There are golden oak stock cabinets to the left of the washer and dryer, making the space feel claustrophobic.
My dream is to make the laundry area look fantastic, especially since it is part of the main entry. I love pulling together images of other spaces online to help me come up with ideas for any space.
Laundry Room Idea 1: Install a Functional Sink
Gone are the days of industrial, dirty laundry room sinks. A farmhouse sink is the perfect size for all of your laundry needs, and they look so perfect tucked in between a washer and dryer. In this laundry room they also installed countertops above the washer and dryer, the perfect space for folding and stacking clothes.
Laundry Room Idea 2: Install Beautiful and Functional Storage
Of course, I love the farmhouse look with reclaimed wood shelves, baskets and burlap fabrics. However, whatever your style, you can come up with an attractive way to store your laundry necessities.
Laundry Room Idea 3: Utilize Wall Space
I love this look from Pottery Barn, but you can easily do something similar as a DIY project. Metal and wood shelf and baskets hold a plethora of miscellaneous laundry items. This space is small but really functional and beautiful.
Laundry Room Idea 4: Use baskets and reacts to organize the space
I love the use of metal and wood textures in the is laundry room. Place small baskets on functional wood shelving to hold miscellaneous items found in pockets. A metal towel bar on a reclaimed wood back is the perfect space to hang your delegates to dry.
I am hoping to turn this corner of the Lake House into a functional, beautiful space.
